So, I've come to realize something that I've been told repeatedly for years and years but never really believed... I have a "style" that is easily recognizable. I didn't realize it until today... just about 5 minutes ago, actually.

I was flipping through other deviants' pages, just enjoying the variety and depth of all these artists' works; I had probably 12 tabs open at the time. I thought I'd closed my own tab out, but I guess not, because in the midst of my tab cruising I came across my own gallery. Thing is, I didn't realize it immediately, probably because I'd been quickly thumbing through tabs for a bit beforehand and my brain hadn't quite caught up yet.

Anyway, that quick glance didn't tell me, "Hey, look, it's your stuff, you silly goober!" My brain said, "Hey, there's a common style there...." and then a nano second later I laughed because I realized I was looking at my own stuff.

As silly as it sounds, it took that one super quick glance and oops moment to realize that people have been right all along. I really do have a style! Clients and friends have been saying it to me for years, and I usually just smile and shrug, but today I see it. Maybe it's because I wasn't looking at it with the scrutiny of an artist, I was looking at it with the appreciation of an art-lover, if that makes any sense. But yes, my revelation for the day is that I do indeed have a style. I can't name it or describe it or place it, and it may not even be a "good" style in the eyes of the art-snobs, but it's definitely there, and it's all mine, and I like it..... and thankfully so do my clients, LOL!

It got me thinking though; how did this happen to me? I mean I didn't set out to paint this way, it just happened. So, now I'm wondering how everyone else's styles happened. Did they plan them or did they just happen? If it just happened, how, I wonder?
